Moment in time - Felicia

 

In term 3 we had to write a moment in time for our writing assessment. I wasn't sure what topic I wanted to choose so I thought back to a few weeks on netball game. It was very interesting even though we didn't win. I wanted to explain my game but also add some twist and turns to make it more dramatic cause when you have a normal plain piece of writing there is no excitement and fun so please read my story and give me feedback on what i have made a mistake on.

For the last 4 weeks we’ve been heading down to the tonui collab to learn how to code games. Using the website Makecode Arcade we got to make our own games, Mac, the coding teacher, taught us how to do everything to do with coding, things such as Getting the right code blocks for our game to work. I really enjoyed making and playing other peoples games and if you ever get the chance to go there I really suggest you do cause every bit is worth it. Sorry this isn’t finished yet so when you touch the ground you don’t actually die. I will try to code it to work another day.

Fun tipu game!!

Lately, Hub Mako have been creating interactive games to teach others about the maori language. To code our games, we remixed a pre existing game to create our own. Scratch is a coding platform that allows you to be innovative and make your very own games. Milky the milk bottle, who is the main character, will take you on an adventure through a variety of different maori words. Tipu is an online learning platform. Tipu is a source of our te reo maori language where we practise how to say different maori words and phrases. I hope you enjoy playing my game and will learn something new. How do you think I can improve, please comment your thoughts!

The Lockdown

The lockdown wouldn't be my ideal choice. To be in honest I really have no choice . In my point of view i think that it is a good idea yet a bad idea too. Okay my first reason is even though we still have to do learning through this time. Its not the same as being able to be at school with your friends and your school mates but i guess they are just trying to keep us safe from this virus.

It's cool how our classroom has a up and running time table that we follow. Even just being able to see our teachers is a bonus in this situation. I really enjoy the google meets that we do in the morning. They are one of my favorite times of the day. Staying at home has good side has a good side to learning too. You don't get to distracted by your friends but you can get distracted by family members.

A not really good thing for remote learning is that its not usually just you at home. You have annoying siblings that come and annoy you when you want to do your own learning without distractions. Then some times when you are a little stuck and both the teachers are occupied its a little hard to find help. But most of the time they will gladly help you by taking time to make a video on what we need help with which is a very nice thing .

I hope that the government will soon let us go back to school i enjoy the extra minutes of sleeping but i can't really stand another day at home. I know that might take a while but when the day comes. Oh i'm ready and i think all my friends are to the only friends i kinda have at home is my cat Foxi and my older sister Jasmin... i guess never mind she's not really my friend. Sometimes i get to see Jess on the hangouts and we talk sometimes on our chat on gmail. Then it's cool when Gabrielle joins cause we get to talk to each other and none of us gets left out.

ok over all i think that the lock down is a good idea cause if people keep staying at home it can break the chain. Then after we have settled the virus we can go back to school and be with our friends again. It may seem like a long time but trust me when its all over... It will be worth the wait. I know most people will be like we can't wait that long but neither can I.
